NFC & Bar Code Scanning

The Barcode and NFC Field Properties in URVA allow users to quickly capture and input data using their device’s camera or NFC-enabled phone. These features make data collection faster, more accurate, and completely touch-free — ideal for product tracking, employee verification, and asset management

Enable Barcode/ NFC

  1. From URVA home, go to Admin Settings.
  2. Choose the form to enable these features.
  3. Select field and go to Input.
  4. Enable the Barcode and NFC as input methods for this field.



Barcode Field Property

This field allows users to scan a barcode using the device’s camera instead of typing the code manually.

How It Works:

  • Open the form that includes a Barcode field.

  • Tap the Barcode Scan icon.

  • Point your camera at the barcode — the system will automatically capture and fill the code/ data into the field.

Additional Options:

  • The barcode field can be configured to accept:

    • Numeric-only values

    • Alphanumeric codes

    • Specific length or pattern (for validation purposes)

This helps ensure that only valid barcode data is entered.
                  
                                         

NFC Field Property

This field lets users scan NFC tags (Near Field Communication) using compatible mobile devices to capture encoded data.

How It Works:

  • Open the form with the NFC field.

  • Tap the NFC Scan option.

  • Bring your phone close to the NFC tag.

  • The system will automatically read and fill the encoded value into the field.

Supported Data Types:

  • Plain text

  • Product ID

  • Employee ID

  • Any other encoded identifier

                                


3. Platform Support

Android:

  • Fully supported on NFC-enabled Android devices.

iOS:

  • Partially supported for iPhones with iOS 13 and above.

  • Only NDEF-formatted tags are supported.

  • Works on iPhone 7 and later models.
